COVID-19 Q&A

In this section we will be posting questions from members and the best responses we receive for that question. Please check back frequently as new information will be added as it comes in.

Question: Any feedback from folks on taking COVID19 positive clients?
Answer: This is a tough one. The EPDPA group had a discussion about this recently and I think the conclusion was that it is up to each agency in accordance with their own risk management policy. Some expressed the general view that they would not care for clients with COVID 19 and already have existing policies prohibiting care for clients with contagious conditions (such as MRSA or C Diff). Others expressed willingness to care for COVID 19 patients, especially in a crisis when the health care system may need us for this and we can demonstrate our value. In the latter case there would be a clear need to have the right PPE AND training for the caregivers. An in between position for those that do ALTCS services would be to limit care for COVID-19 to situations where the caregiver is a family attendant.
